EclipseCon 2023: Call for Proposals
We are delighted to announce that EclipseCon 2023, one of the major events of the Eclipse community, will take place again this year. Save the date for October 16-19, 2023, as we return to the Forum in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The Eclipse Foundation, and eleven other leading open source organizations, have written an open letter to the European Commission to offer our expertise to make constructive changes to the legislation in support of strengthening cybersecurity without harming the open source software community. Read the letter and learn more about the Cyber Resilience Act.

The Adoptium Working Group Reports Significant Momentum for Open Source Java in 2023
On March 14, the Eclipse Foundation, in collaboration with the Adoptium Working Group, announced more than 12 million downloads of its Temurin Java SE binaries per month. This announcement signals continued significant momentum for the global open source Java ecosystem. It comes as new licensing fee structures are being introduced in the industry, with some enterprises facing fees of millions of dollars for access to Java, compared to the tens of thousands of dollars they previously paid. Respondents have the option to complete the Developer portion of the survey – which looks at topics like programming languages, operating systems, and hardware; the Commercial Adoption portion – which examines topics like open source and cloud strategies and investment into IoT and edge; or both.
The survey closes on June 28, 2023, and takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Reminder of Fee Changes for Existing Members Coming in 2024
As a reminder, last year the board of directors approved a change in the annual membership fees for all Strategic, Contributing and Associate members. After careful consideration and analysis of various factors, inflation has been identified as the primary cause of the fee increase. The Board based this difficult decision to adjust the fees, due primarily to inflationary pressures, in order to maintain the high level of service and support that our members have come to expect. We understand that the increase may be an inconvenience for some members, but we believe it is necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization.
The new fees take effect for existing members upon each Member’s renewal date in 2024, so there are no changes to your renewal fees for 2023.
Members are reminded to include the new fees in their 2024 budget planning.
